Doodle and Draw "a la carte" Workshops (in person and virtual options)
Doodle and Draw "a la carte" Workshops (in person and virtual options)
Looking to gain fluency with pencil on paper? Are you stuck in a rut and ready to feel inspired? Does making art appeal to you, but seem daunting at the same time?
Do you just want to enjoy art-making again?
These monthly workshops are for you! They’re “a la carte” because you can come once or come regularly—you decide.
I’ll begin each session with some discussion and a warm-up exercise. Then I’ll offer prompts and ideas so you can begin your own work. The bulk of the workshop will consist of “studio time,” meaning time to work independently on a project of your choice. During this time I’ll be available to offer individual feedback and help trouble-shoot as needed.
While building concrete skills, we’ll also address our critic voice and other obstacles that prevent us from practicing what we love.
Whether you gravitate toward the realism of drawing or the freedom of doodling, you’ll find a foothold here. I normally teach these two activities separately, but we’re going to experiment with letting them mingle. 😉 Join me with curiosity and your sense of adventure, and let’s see what happens!
“Doodle & Draw” sessions will take place on the third Thursday of the month, from 1:30 - 4:00 pm in my NE Portland studio—and now over Zoom as well. We’re going hybrid!
Registration is open for:
👉🏽 Thursday, April 16th
More classes may be added soon, so stay tuned.
Use the drop-down menu to choose how you want to participate (in person or over Zoom). If attending virtually via Zoom, I’ll send you the link approximately an hour before class begins.
Who are these workshops for?
🖍️ Beginners looking to start an art* practice;
🖍️ Folks whose skills have gotten rusty from lack of use (no judgment!);
🖍️ Past students of mine who want to keep practicing;
🖍️ People of any skill level trying to carve out time for making art*.
🖍️ The workshops are intended for adults and teens age 16 and up. Children ages 10 - 15 may enroll with an also-enrolled guardian.
*Can’t yet call what you make “art?” Don’t worry, you’re still qualified!
Basic and Zoom Option: You bring your own paper and drawing/doodling tools. This can be as simple as computer paper and a #2 pencil, or you can get fancier with whatever pens, colored pencils, etc. and paper you like.
Materials Fee Option for In-Person Attendees: You arrive empty-handed! For a materials fee of $15 (payable in class) I’ll set you up with everything you need.
Cancellation policy:
If you need to cancel for any reason, notify Pam ASAP (pam@allhandsart.com). Cancellations made at least two weeks prior to your scheduled class date will be refunded minus a $15 administrative fee.
Note that a class may be cancelled if fewer than 3 students are registered 48 hours before the class is due to begin. If that happens, all payments will be reimbursed or you can choose to apply your payment to a future class.
