Episode 31: Seasonal Greetings Beyond "Happy" 🌟

Icy view of my studio from the back door of our house.

Blessed Human,

Here we stand in the midst of the holiday season, peering ahead to 2023. I literally stood up to record today’s podcast episode, bouncing around to stay warm in my under-heated studio (36 degrees inside according to my classroom-grade thermometer; 20 degrees outside). A bumpy layer of ice coats all of our east-facing windows after last night’s wind-and-freezing-rain-storm.

I’m poised to finish my month of grand jury duty as well, with final paperwork tasks on Tuesday. What remains then is to make sense of humanity after hearing testimony from 70+ felony cases—rape to murder to assault and stolen vehicles and burglaries and bias crimes and more. What life circumstances cause people to do such things to other people? Is there hope for systemic change? And for justice, whatever that might look like?

However, that is not today’s topic. (Whew! 😅)

Instead, I have warm winter wishes to bestow upon you in a heartfelt 10-ish minute recorded message. And for reasons I explain in the episode (and not because I’m Grinchy!) I want to avoid using the word “happy.”

That’s it for me in 2022 — it’s a wrap! Thank you for joining me on this creative journey of self-discovery and connection. I look forward to continuing with this grand experiment in 2023!

With ice-melting love,
Pam
