Episode 20: Home

Friends! I’m excited to share this next topic of heART❤️SCHOOL with you, because it is, indeed, dear to my heart. No build-up to the big reveal here, I’m just gonna blurt our new word out: It’s HOME.

In this 31-minute podcast episode, after revealing some unusual ways houses have loomed large in my life’s story, I shift the focus away from “home” as a physical dwelling place.

What if home were a state of body and mind you could carry with you?

Can we create the sense of home out in our communities?

If we were born onto this Earth, is anyplace we go our home?

Enjoy the listen, plus more artwork and notes below (including an update on the Doodling Lunatics). 🖍🌙

Episode Notes

> This — and every episode of the Accidental Muralist Podcast — was recorded in my art studio which is located on the traditional homelands of the Cowlitz, Clackamas, and other Chinook-speaking tribes in what is nowadays commonly known as Portland, Oregon.

> Below are two versions of the self-portrait I describe in the podcast. Left: mid-process with the universe bearing down on me. Right: at peace, if feeling a bit solitary.

How You Can Become a Doodling Lunatic 🖍🌙

Note: I shifted the date of our first session back to the actual new moon. 🌑This is a change from my last email.

The Doodling Lunatics is what I envision becoming a much-anticipated 🤓 time we gather each month to honor the current phase of the moon and doodle together online.

First session: Tuesday, February 1st, 2022 starting at 5:30 pm Pacific Time.
Next session: Friday, March 4th, 2022 starting at 5:30 pm Pacific Time.

It’s about finding spaciousness. Sharing simple mark-making ideas. Engaging with our inner critic in a harmless, low-stakes environment so that it won’t derail us when the stakes are higher.

Experiencing moments of … silence. 💫

The Doodling Lunatics is for YOU if your life feels scheduled wall-to-wall and you need a break. Or if you wish you “were more creative.” Or if you have some perfectionist tendencies you’d like to shake loose from. 🙋🏽‍♀️

Find out more by visiting the new Doodling Lunatics page on my website.

Thank you for being here.

Thanks for being a facet of “home” for me — this All Hands Art blog-reading community that you’re a part of. It means a lot to share this space with you. 🙏🏽

Getting my crayons ready,
Pam

P.S. Now that I’ve distracted you with doodling opportunities, don’t forget to listen to the podcast! 🤪
