Episode 18: A Word to Tame the Season

My new favorite sign, salvaged from the ReBuilding Center this week.

Shift Gears With Me

Welcome to heART❤️SCHOOL, module 4. In today’s podcast episode, we’re going counter-culture, stepping off the treadmill, exploring my new favorite “S” word. 🥳

Together, we will:

  • brainstorm ways to open up our days;

  • experience stretches of silence — ✨💫 — yeah, right there in the podcast!

  • learn the socially unacceptable ways that I work through transitions;

  • hear eight or nine other really great candidates for Favorite “S” Word;

  • have The Chosen Word revealed around minute 3. Then I say it enough times in following 52 minutes that I think it will stick with you for at least a few days. (That’s my hope — mwa-ha-ha! 🤓)

  • pay tribute to the special skills of toddlers and a dog named Angel.

I’m so tempted to just blurt out what the new word is, but I’m going to resist and instead welcome you inside…

Episode Notes

> The “doodle book” I mention, which I wrote, is called Doodle Your Way Out of Stuckness, and you can find it here.
> I refer to a book about grief that I heard someone quote from recently. That book is The Wild Edge of Sorrow by Francis Weller.

Invitation to Integration

These ungraded homework assignments are meant to invite joy, savoring, and depth into our daily lives. So without mentioning that super awesome “S” word — which, for some reason, I feel like keeping hidden in the audio recording for now — here are a few questions for you to ponder, journal, meditate, sing, or wiggle your way through:

  1. What do you love? Follow-up: Where can you let more of that in?

  2. When do you multi-task? Follow-up: Where can you let some of that drop away?

  3. What might you be avoiding by filling every moment of each day? Follow-up: Where could that all be accumulating in your body?

**Extra credit** 4. Who can you invite to join your exploration of this grand, beautiful “S” word? It’s easier to feel the permission we need to break social norms if we’re not the only ones doing it. (Please email this to them or find another way to share it.)

My Wish For You

I wish for you a holiday season that is full, yet open; rich, yet spare; generous, yet private. Or whichever adjectives you need to feel balanced and whole.

With love and gratitude,
Pam

P.S. I’m offering workshops again, and I made them gift-able and adaptable to your schedule! If you’re local, you may purchase a whole workshop in my studio for up to 5 people that you know and love and feel COVID-safe with. Workshops can also be held remotely, via Zoom or Google Meet.

Look here for what I’ve got so far, and feel free to request workshops I may not have thought of yet — if you are serious about purchasing it, that is. For ideas, you could scroll through the contents of my shop for things you’d like to learn how to make. (Commissioned workshops? Why not?)

Buy Me a Coffee at ko-fi.com

P.P.S. I raised my “coffee” price to $4, not because I’ve developed more expensive tastes in coffee, but because I noticed that PayPal was charging $0.75 for each $3 transaction, which seemed like a silly high percentage. It’s still about the gesture — make a small contribution of $ if you enjoy my work and if doing so would make you glow. ✨Other donation levels and info can be found here. (But no “shoulding” on yourself, you hear?
