Week 26: California Treasures

If you're new to this blog, you're joining halfway through a project I started last fall. For my 46th birthday I launched a year-long Color-a-Week series of blog posts that normally highlight one specific color. It's just meant to be eye candy—a little visual therapy, if you will. I'm taking liberties with the theme again this week, inspired by the community mosaic mural workday at Redwood Heights School last Saturday. We had intense summer heat, but shade, snacks, high spirits, and some really cool tiles kept us going. Here's a look at the process, from my Visiting Artist stints in Ms. Claudia's art classes with the 4th & 5th graders, to Day 1 of mural installation.
