Watercolor Doodles!

Dear friend who may or may not have suffered some “creative wounding” in your life,

This week in my Art Journaling classes I demonstrated the very sophisticated methods of: 1) drawing silly birds with your non-dominant hand, and 2) making watercolor circles by holding your brush perpendicular to the page and spinning it around.

Here are some of my students’ results works-in-progress. ☺️

Or to tell me that they’re starting to see themselves differently, after always thinking they were just not creative.

I’ve experienced and been changed by the secret powers of doodling (or art journaling, or visual journaling, or messing around with art supplies regularly — whatever you want to call it) myself, which is why I wrote a book about it. You can peruse my “doodle book” here, and consider gifting one to that person in your life who is graduating, or looking for a new career path, or is stuck in an unhealthy relationship, or just needs creative restoration for their weary soul.

In it you’ll find whimsical “instructions” for loosening up with your pen, and even draw-along guidance for making adorable birds like the ones you see here. 🤓✍🏽

Wishing you playful wandering with pen/brush/pencil on paper,
- Pam

P.S. I’ve decided to give myself the summer off from blogging and podcasting, so that I can focus on other upcoming events and projects. You may hear from me a time or two between now and the fall, and you are always welcome to reach out to say hi, ask a question, tell me about your new doodling habit, and so on. 😘

Take good care of yourself, Precious One! Don’t forget to make stuff, and to let it be wonderfully imperfect. 💫
