Salvage Queen Strikes Again!

This year I plan to post three times per month: WORDS on the 3rd, PICTURES on the 13th, and SOUND on the 23rd. Here’s my first installment of SOUND.

Someone asked, after reading my Jan 3rd WORDS post, if I’d be singing in this one. Haha, no, I’m not quite ready for that! But what I’m sharing today is still awkward, don’t worry.

I’m currently on a mosaic mural-making “business trip” in California. The mural-making will take place in San Luis Obispo, down on the Central Coast. My first stop, however, is Oakland. Besides seeing good friends here and hanging out with my daughter Elena, who will be traveling with me to help with the mural, I get to nerd out on one of my favorite parts of the mural-making process. It’s decidedly unglamorous, rarely seen publicly, and this particular effort involved crouching in a parking lot near the BART tracks by the coliseum, long enough to get some curious looks from passersby.

So enjoy (and forgive me for) this video. The technical challenges were many, including but not limited to trying to film myself cutting mirror. I would have preferred getting my head in the picture below, too, but you can’t have everything! I’ll try to make next month’s SOUND dispatch more professional-looking. ;)

I’ll show you, in upcoming posts, the purpose of all this rigamarole!

House of mirrors?
